Wherever The Hell You Are, I Hope You’re Lonely

About 6 years ago I signed with a label, Get Bent Records.  They’re kind of a Mickey Mouse operation.  Think of it more as a social club, as opposed to a record label.  It once had a respectable roster featuring acts like The Standstills, Doug Hell (best act the label as ever seen),  Jeff Leech, Trish Robb, The Polymorphines, Stone Sparrows, as well as others who no one has heard of outside the Durham Region in Ontario, well except for The Standstills and Doug Hell.  They’re bad, and they’re nationwide.  Ask Jonathan Fox from The Standstills what he thinks of Get Bent Records.

All the decent artists have left the label. Most bands left on it are directly affiliated with one of the head honchos of the label.  I won’t mention names because that’s not fair.  I also don’t think it’s fair to mention the roster has been suffering because of an alleged woman beating scandal which has one of the “staff” on probation.  I could really set fire to all this but that would be tacky, even for me.

I released one album with them.  I put out Going Home To Die in 2010.  That was it.  I was working on my follow-up, Love Hard, when relations with one of the head honchos and I broke down.  The masters are still in his possession.  Ho fucking hum.  I have yet to receive any royalties from Going Home To Die, which I was informed by the same head honcho that it was the best selling album on the roster.  Granted every time he told me he was drunk and in a good mood, but it really isn’t that much of a stretch.  I have twisted fools all over the world who love my work.

Regardless, do not purchase this album ANYWHERE online.  I don’t see the money.  When the time comes I will hire a lawyer, but it’s just not that important to me right now.  If you want the album for free then just click here.  You can download what songs you want individually FOR FREE.

So that being said, I will be recording Love Hard with Canadian punk legend, Jimmy Vapid, of The Vapids.  I chose him because he is the only person alive that intimidates me.  He doesn’t use a computer anywhere in the recording process.  I like that.  It makes me feel all Jack White and whole inside.

This will be going down this month.  I’m happy to finally be getting around to it.

How many of you fools out there remember the band, Trole?  Of course you do.  They were one of Canada’s most successful and talented underground bands.  Frontman George is one of the most capital fellows living, and easily my best friend, and most influential human being I’ve ever met in my life.  He’ll be standing with me when I marry Queen Hell next year.  Know that he is still very much alive and doing fine.  Not one person ever in attendance at a Trole concert, walked away not realizing they just witnessed the best live band on the planet, ever.  The only thing that surpasses Trole’s talent you could all only dream of, is his greatness as a human being.  I’m honoured to know him.  We’ll be doing an album in the future too.
